Professional Qualifications - Executive Summary

I am ambitious and motivated to grow professionally and personally. I am computer literate and have mastery of many popular software titles, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Front Page 2000, Microsoft Publisher 2000, Corel WordPerfect 7, Corel Draw 9, Quick Books Pro Version 5, Quattro Pro 7, Labels Unlimited, Print Shop Ensemble & Adobe Photoshop. I have a good understanding of Windows 95/ 98/ NT/ XP/ Vista operating systems, basic networking protocols, web site development and hardware/ software maintenance. I also have a working knowledge of HTML code and programming concepts.


I have a positive and enthusiastic attitude and enjoy professional challenges. I currently own & manage a small, rapidly growing print communications firm. I have represented major document system manufacturers in Southern New Brunswick in a marketing capacity for almost 15 years. Plus, I have over a decade of management experience in the hospitality industry.

Employment History

1998-Present: President, DATA o/b Corporate Culture Group, Rothesay, NB

We service and develop a rapidly growing customer base by offering a wide range of unique print communication products & services. Corporate Culture Group (CCG) is the NB Sales Agency for DATA Business Forms. This agency business serves South and Central New Brunswick via two (2) sales offices. I have developed and ensure proper execution of the company's business plan. I assist in promoting and maintaining the marketing programs for the company. I enable a small sales staff to succeed in achieving their individual monthly revenue targets, I am involved with major accounts and I maintain all financial records, up to & including year-end financial reports.

 

1992-1997: Commercial Account Representative, Crain-Drummond Inc., Saint John, NB

I serviced a small number of existing accounts and grew the company's local base to almost 200 clients by offering document solutions to address client's business form and label needs. Some of my major accounts included The Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation, The Irving Group of Companies, Baxter Foods Ltd. and NCH Promotional Services Ltd. I carried a growing annual sales quota of about 700 K in my last year and had been consistently on my revenue target since Q2 of 1994. Crain-Drummond Inc. is now named Relizon.

 

1988-1992: Stores Manager/ Buyer, Sheraton Hotels Canada, Toronto, ON

I was responsible for the operation of a large food store, which serviced the various kitchens and food outlets of Sheraton's Canadian corporate headquarters. I was the manager of a staff of 3 to 5 clerks (depending on the season). I was a key participant in a corporate pilot project to upgrade storeroom areas with new technology that networked purchasing and inventory processes. This allowed us to bar code food & beverage items as they entered the hotel. Product movement through the property was tracked through the hotel's computer network while we maintained perpetual inventory on all goods. I was instrumental in training the storeroom clerks to use, understand and embrace this new computerized storeroom environment. I also worked in the hotel chain's corporate purchasing division, "Unifood", part time, during the afternoon, where I would order the items I had requisitioned earlier that day.

 

1988-1991: Owner/ Operator, Custom Staff & Catering Services, Toronto, ON

I was the sole proprietor of a small catering company located in Toronto. I performed tasks such as corporate planning, advertising, contract fulfillment & maintenance, event co-ordination, marketing, event sales and basic financial book keeping. This company focused on private and home based catered events; however, we did a small amount of work in Toronto's corporate sector. I ran this business as a sideline venture while I worked for Sheraton Hotels in Toronto.

 

1983-1988: Assistant Room Service Manager, Sutton Place Hotel, Toronto, ON

I performed tasks such as scheduling staff and managing events, I also ensured the company's standards and policies were followed by staff who reported to me. I helped to prepare the departmental budgets and other monthly reports, such as forecasts, labour reports, etc. I worked at this job full time (at nights and on weekends) during my full time post secondary educational training at Centennial College (below).
